WINDOW TREATMENT
She laid the curtains out across the bed in her room, still not completely convinced she’d made the right purchase. Although the color and style were perfect for the decor, she was concerned with the opacity. She preferred her privacy to socializing; being alone to having friends. The thought of having bedroom drapes too sheer to provide her with the needed seclusion was unacceptable. Despite her concerns, she ironed them and hung them, then adjusted them to look exactly right. As she stood back, admiring her work, she couldn’t shake the feeling that, despite the loveliness of the new window treatment, the neighbors would have no trouble seeing in.
To test her theory, she decided on a plan. After dark, she dragged her dressmaker’s dummy to the middle of the room. For fun, she draped her favorite coat across its shoulders and placed a wide brimmed straw hat on top. She turned on the bedroom light and stood back to compare the location of the mannequin to the window. Satisfied that everything was just as it should be, she ventured outside to look in the window, hoping to prove that her privacy would not be violated. Just as she’d suspected, standing a few feet from the window and gazing in, she could very clearly see the dressmaker’s dummy standing in the middle of her room. Waving at her.

I love your stories. Loved the twist. ❤️
